WV WATERSHED OF THE YEAR
THE COAL RIVER GROUP NAMED -THE 2009 WV WATERSHED OF THE YEAR
The WV Watershed Network has named the Coal River Group as the Watershed of the Year for 2009. The award recognizes the Group for the work it has accomplished "Bringing Life Back to the Coal Rivers".

The State Watershed Network includes individual Watershed Groups located throughout the State. The Award includes a $5,000 check, a plaque and Highway signs that can be located on all major highways in the Watershed.
The Coal River Group Watershed is the largest of all Watershed organizations (850 quare miles). The Rivers being restored by the CRG represent the longest and largest body of water being addressed by a single Watershed Group.
The Coal River Group is proud of the prestigious award and looks forward to using the $5,000 to provide training and education for its board members, pay for finish work on the new River Science and Education Center and aquire additional Solar Panels for its alternative Energy system alternative energy center.
In past years. the CRG has won the awards for: Best New Watershed Group, Education and Outreach, Recreation, Photo Contest, Wastewater at the annual West Virginia Watershed Network Celebration Day. The Group won the WV DEP's Exceptional Environmental Award for Volunteer Groups in 2006.
